Take a chance on you!

5 years ago when I finally decided I was tired of being where I was with my health- tired of being tired, of being so out of breath going up the stairs, of knees hurting as I walked, of not being able to shop in normal sized clothing stores- I committed to making small and significant changes starting with making the commitment to go to the gym each and every morning and walk on the treadmill for 1 minute longer than I did the day before. That very first walk was VERY slow and lasted no more than 1 minute. It wasn't easy. I hurt. But I was determined that there's got to be more to life than facing that I could end up needing a walker before I'm 45 or even dying before my 50th birthday.
I didn't count steps. I didn't care about my speed. I didn't care about how many calories I burned. All I cared about was moving just a bit longer today than I did yesterday. Each step I took was a new step further away from the me I was leaving behind for good.
It wasn't easy but it sure was worth it!
If you want something badly, then don't let anything stop you from it. It won't be easy. It will hurt. But the benefits far outweigh the trying times.
And every so often I catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror or through another person I'm helping and I get to say "Wow! There really is so much more to life and I'm so glad I chose to take a chance on me!"
